Is Coloured Vinyl as good as Black Vinyl?

The question audiophiles have been asking since the dawn of time... and they're still asking it today.

When I was 16 I bought a second-hand turntable from a friend, and hooked it up to my old hi-fi speakers. The first album I ever bought on vinyl was a semi-transparent blue-splatter version of Megadeth's first album: Killing Is My Business. I loved it. Played it every day. I already knew that album like the back of my hand -and it sounded great on that blue vinyl.

It wasn't until later on, chatting to record collectors, that I encountered the idea that coloured vinyl was an inferior product. "Wouldn't bother with that mate", people would say, "black vinyl is better than coloured".

But these were all older guys. Talking about older records. What about here and now?

Speaking for Sonic Wax Pressing, we disagree. Coloured vinyl can be just as good as black vinyl -if it's done right. Our team is composed of devout music lovers through and through, and our pressing engineers are extremely passionate about, and prideful of, the quality of the records we press.

As such, we have worked tirelessly to develop a pressing process that is robust enough to create perfect records in black and colour alike. Decades of wisdom and expertise combined with state-of-the-art modern pressing machines, and a highly-refined polymer mix, has raised the quality standards to a point where the difference is negligible if it's there at all.

If you want to press a colour vinyl where you're guaranteed comparable quality to black, get in touch or get a same day quote now.
